My Vista Partition (boot partition) is 24 GB and I want to extend it to 35 GB. My HDD is 152 GB and I formatted it into 3 partitions. The partitions are C(Vista), D(62 gb empty), E(62 gb empty). Below are my attempts to extend the C partition to 35 GB.
1. Vista Disk Management tool
- I deleted the D partition and then try to extend the C partition but the extend option is grayed out. Other partitions can be extended except C.
2. GParted live iso
- I burned the iso to a CD and booted it. I deleted the D partition and try to extend C but it says not enough free space. (I try to drag the slider to increase the size of the partition but the slider wont move because it is at the end of the column bar). Other partition can be extended.
3. I tried DiskPart command line utility tool that come with Vista. Again i deleted the D partition and try extend the size by typing the command -extend size=80000. It displays the message "There is not enough free space to perform the operation".
Those were my failed attempts. I even tried reinstalling vista but primary partition didn’t change
